Ray and Veronica work at Northiam station - where, after some pruning back of shrubs and bushes, additional work was done to the beds following completion of adjacent fencing by the Tuesday Gang. |
Stan at work on the ever present task of keeping grassed areas tidy, particularly on the banks on the North side of the platforms. |
The newly established privet hedge at Northiam is cut back vigorously to promote growth. |
The hedge next to the vegetable patch gets a short back and sides from Ray's clippers ....... |
... followed by removal to the other end of the site ready for a warming bonfire in due course |
A change is as good as a rest they say and the Tuesday gang put on their other hats (or in this case wellies) and report to Rolvenden to plant 40+ trees. This is required by the planners as a screen for any future development at the Locomotive site. |
Some levelling of the site was required before the saplings could be planted and very fortunately Frim gladly took on this task or we might still be there! |
The planners instructions were quite specific about how the screening should be accomplished and this resulted in plenty of on-site surveying and discussion to ensure it was done right. |
The planters wait levelling of the site before they can plant. Such a patient lot! |
It'll be some time before the trees reach maturity, but we've made the start. |
Back to the routine work again - John manages a bonfire at Northiam to clear the accumulated gardening and other wooden rubbish. |
...... and Veronica continuing with the hedge pruning. A gardeners work is NEVER done. How about coming to help the work and make the gardens and other scenic areas even better? |
