1. Summer suns shine in the photo at least but it's been a long wet and raw winter - How has the gardening group fared? |
2. Here volunteers are getting ready to do a bit of sorting out of the Wittersham Rd garden areas. The edges of this bed are defined with old railway sleepers and some of the stone - old ballast -removed. |
3. New soil is added to give the plants a chance! |
4. Veronica gets planting to add some colour to a neglected corner. |
5. Dwarf daffs make a colourful show in the bed later in the season. |
6. Once all the timber from the fallen trees had been removed from Wittersham Rd platform work could start on other things ... |
7. The fences are repaired as quickly as possible. |
8. An attempt is being made to confine the Wittersham planting to defined areas rather than over-enthusiastic shrubs, bushes and trees "taking over" the platform. |
9. Old Sleepers are cajoled into place and then spiked down. |
10. Dave begins the task of adding top soil to these new planters. |
11. Much of the winter gardening work has been clearing and preparation for the new growing season. The garden at Witt Rd by the entry footpath is pruned back and cleared of weeds such as self-seeded trees and brambles. |
12. Some more persistent weeds are given something else to inhibit their growth |
13. Northiam window boxes get some attention too. |
14. What it's all about! - Spring glory beside the rake of Witt Rd wagons as the daffodils brighten up the wet, grim winter days. |
15. Clearance and tidying up continues around the new growth. |
16. Tenterden has its turn too - Veronica waters the boxes and tubs to keep everything fresh and vigorous. |
17. Another season in prospect as hedge and woodland alongside the line bursts into leaf and new blossom. Spring is here once more! |
